I was just trying to spend some time doing this test as well, and I just noticed a flaw in your model that (if you nitpick like I always do and want to have things to work) you might want to address.
The bridge is suppose to be able to tilt, depending on the height of the water, which is also why (as you model do have) the raft is attached to those poles with rings, so it can go up and down. But the bridge is attached permanently on the pier in a certain angle, which means that if the water would raise, the bridge will either break or the raft will twist.

But its all up to you, its just me and my functional-gene that meddles By the way, are you using XSI?

EDIT: Regarding the texture, it really depends, are you going to use parts of it for other models, especially some which might be tile, such as bricks, you might want to have it in separated texture. Its easier to reuse textures then, but on the other hand, its easier to manage just one texture as well.

Yeah now I understand that flaw. I figured in the art test this bridge was attached that way, and that maybe the pontoon what one of those reinforced concrete pontoons. But hopefully splash doesn't make a huge issue out of it Here my texture layout for the dock base. It this a good layout to start with?

Nice work, I like the texture, but...

I can see an aweful lot of repetition on your brick texture, so when you apply that to your environment, and it repeats across the wall or whatever you've got, you're going to get a hell of alot more repetition.

You've also got some washed out effect on the bricks as if the bricks have had paint on them previously and it wasn't washed away fully, when you use that texture and let it repeat along the wall, you're going to be seeing that same obvious flaw in the wall over and over again.
Texturing is a pretty tricky thing, you either do it right, or it sucks lol, and it usually takes ages to fix the problem up :P but then again, that's like most things in life really.

Otherwise, good job so far, try and hide the repetition later on and i'm sure you'll have yourself a nice texture

Here another attempt at the tiled brick. These were made from the 3d bricks. Sry to keep coming back to this but I really want to hammer this down now.

I like the texture, I did notice that there were two noticable lines on the texture, which appear to be seems, however, no wall is perfect, and I have seen walls that have that sortof inconsistency before, so it looks fine to me

They look good but they're much too saturated, but it does look like it will tile well as all the detail in it is very uniform. I think with some hue and sat tweaking it'll look good.
It's also a bit low res but that's up to you. Not sure if you want it to be a high or low resolution scene.
