I never noticed that. Thanks for pointing that out man. Here is an updated image with ao applied as well. i really have to put this one to rest because I have to start working on other projects but thanks alot for all the comments, it has come along way from my first draft and I am happy with this version now.

I think the damage to the pillar is far too soft. It looks like it's been eroded by years or rain, not smashed. The chunks taken out of it would have really sharp edges.
I followed the same tutorial, and found that having photo reference of broken concrete, etc was fantastic help. Last edited by Craig Lewis; 10-12-2008 at 05:56 PM. |

yes indeed. its to blurry. i did some eroded and broken concrete for CE2 too. but without a scultping pass.
just a lowpoly with a cryzybump normalmap plus some CE2 shader magic. ![]() using several smoothing groups can add some nice roundings and sharp edges where needed too. texture seams are along my edges which need to be sharp. i unwrapped using pelt mapping and relax. to let the iron poles stick out of the concrete in a nice way you can use splines with 3 sides and do a uvw-xform on the splines so theres no problem with the bendings. but im still seeking for a good wa to unwrap poles and cables in a fast and efficient way ![]()
