Gears of War - Map - Bridge
Hi All,
I've had the chance to buy a new laptop and decided to play arround with the GOW editor (UE3). For those of you who play americas army you may find the layout similar to the MP level Bridge Crossing. I realy went to heart on bringing that fast pace fun experiance to a GOW map, considering the small teams within GOW when playing MP. The level realy strays from GOW 1's background and environment and kinda push's towards GOW 2's environment (More fire and destrcution). Mostly looking events between GOW 1 and GOW 2. Some WIP Shots. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() For which Engine - UE3 GOW Editor Where are you looking to receive criticism - Layout considering more on level design then art layout at the present time. Although all round comments are welcome. _________________________________________________ |

Hey,
First thing I would say is it could be broken up a bit more it’s just a long straight level, maybe some side alleys or something like that. But that might be hard to do with your current design. It looks like youhave done the whole damage all over the place quite well with plenty of burning cars etc. Going back to what I said about the layout it’s hard for me to say if that is a massive issue or not, I never did too well at making gears levels and it tends to be a very different kind of level design with a lot more cover etc that you would normally find in a first person shooter for example. It looks like everything is a bit flat and having different levels of elevation can make gamplay a lot more interesting. Again I don’t know how ideal that would be for you to work that in at this stage. If you feel like uploading the map a few people here might have the game installed and give it a run around and give you more feedback. I no longer have it installed so I can't help you there. Good luck with it and it’s much better than any gears map I ever made. |

Hi All,
It has been rainning all weekend so i've been working on the gow bridge map none stop. It's near polish. I've added more cover nodes as well as extended it's length. As laid out in the design document there are tunnels for players to travel down/gaurd against enemy forces. I don't realy have alot of time to spend day in and day out as I'm working and all I do is use the UE3 engine at work so sometimes it becomes an annoyance. Hopefully get this mapped polished by the end of next week Below are in editor shots: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hey all,
Sorry for the double post but i'm pritty excited. I've got a team mate to spawn and follow me. Carmine (the only one that spawns at the moment) is able to follow, take cover and fight the enemy. I've also placed within my map a character selection screen for the player to select there character and then play with carmine as a team mate. I'm trying to get Hoffman and Marcus to team up but no success yet. The map is now a single player map, due to mp maps being useless according to epic's forums Here's a shot for you all: ![]() Also does anyone know how I can allow the character mesh's to allow light. At the moment they appear black in-game. (Below) ![]() |

Maps in BETA.
Screens and download below: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Download: GOW_Bridge_James_Allsopp.rar - FileFront.com It isn't a complete map yet. Theres a few things needing to be sorted at the end. The attack of the Theron guard needs to be looked at as his viewing distance and path dosn't seem to regulate towards attacks the player yet. Enjoy.
