Modelling looks alright, texturing seems a bit monotone.
Here's some good reference for material definition, also have a look at the grip plates on those shots, yours look like they are part of the gun. http://farm1.static.flickr.com/131/3...48879efc_b.jpg http://www.stevecobbguns.com/picture...92F%20LWEB.JPG http://www.rjholloway.co.uk/Beretta92sa.JPG http://www.mypearl.us/gallery/albums/firearms/92fs.jpg http://xanman2.googlepages.com/TSDTM92FS-7.JPG Hope that helps... There's a lot of random scratches everywhere, especially on the slide however. I'd minimize those and instead scratch only the edges. The metal also seems rather stony, try decontrasting it a bit on both the spec and diffuse. The gun itself is also painted black, so should be darker.
The laser attachment is made of plastic, so should be noisy and not as grunged up. Otherwise it's looking like a good start. Model is great, textures just need some work. |

Did it spend 3 of those days tumbling in a clothes dryer?
![]() The wear is really overboard, it's not particularly realistic and it doesn't accent the lines of the gun nicely. The slide release and fiddly bits could have used more poly definition if this is for an FPS, and the grip plates are not well differentiated. Finally, isn't all the detail you're showing us supposed to be on the other side of the gun? They don't put slide-mounted safeties on both sides of the slide ![]() |

Heres an update on the material,
the grip plate is now more defined, and scratches are less frequent. at the moment each side is identical, once i've got the material nailed, i'll get rid of bits i dont need from each side and give it some uv space which i've put aside, same goes for the text on the opposite side. I've used a new shader also, which helps the definition thanks for your comments folks Last edited by ChrisB; 09-18-2008 at 11:13 AM. Reason: link update |
