low poly modeling

Current Polycount - about 500
Max Polycount - 9000
Texture Size - not decided yet
Description of background information on piece - low poly character practice
Where are you looking to receive criticism - modeling

hello people new here i usually model high poly cars So heres a new project, trying my hand at low poly modeling. this is just a regular soldier almost like the one in FEAR. the poly limit i'm aim for is 9k crits and comments are welcome.

update time, looks weird without the arms, but ill get on that soon, so far the tri count is 3100.

aloha! 'tis fatboi from 3dpalace :P nice to say you here

I think the model is looking well, except for the legs, they look quite slim, although from the side view they look ok. Also I think you're gonna need to adjust the polys around the knee as that could cause some problems when animation that joint... I think you should employ a little edge looping in those areas.

Good start overall. And welcome to the forums

aloha to you to man. thanks for the input i will fix up the knee, so far fixed a few things and worked on the proportions. personally it doesnt look like much but im sure once textures are on it it will be much better.

it seems his calf muscles seem quite large- yet the rest of him isn't so muscular. i dont know maybe its just me. Try and create a greater sense of gravity in those pockets (if they are going to be made of cloth that is)

His waist seems to be a bit high up, and his "lower part of the legs" seems to be a bit long, but might just be me

thats true, im bulking up this character a bit more, i noticed the waist was a bit high. still fixing a few more things on him, im gonna change the helmet a bit, looks a bit too plain.
