Tank Factory

For which Engine - kcbanner's
Current Polycount - 216
Max Polycount - 500-600
Texture Size - N/A
Description of background information on piece - The Tank factory is going to be for Kcbanner's RTS/Castle defender game he is making. The factory is supposed to be futuristic.
Where are you looking to receive criticism - Everywere, Mostly detail. What should I add to make it look more like a tank factory?

The mesh is clean but really not much to say. When its going to be that low poly its all on the textures.

its generally fine for static objects that dont animate but for like characters you dont want to make them out of different parts. i think some older engines have problems with objects not fully seamed up but it should be fine.

one crit is that you could lose some of edges in those cylinders, there is quite a lot there and for such a small object you really wouldnt notice the loss. Also you need to fix up the tops of the cylinders. Right now there ngons which basically means more then a 4 sided polygon which is bad. You only need to do this for the top as the bottom will be hidden inside the main structure.

Here is an example of fixxing an ngon cylinder.

I guess you should make a somewhat thick extrude inward square for where the tanks come out. I'd add a door to it and make it open and close to let units out when they are done building. I don't know what your making it for tho.

it turns that large cap into 4 sided polygons. you can basically just use the cut tool and cut up the cap up. having polygons that have more then 4 ends is bad. these are called ngons and you need to remove them.

here i did a quick paint over on your model where you need to fix polygons that have more then 4 edges.

just remember having a polygon with more then 4 edges is bad and you should never have it. you will have to cut them up to 3 or 4 sided polys.

Here on the side you have a 6 sided poly which can be cut up easy into 2 different 4 sided polys. For the garage door you will need to split that up into 3 sections unless you extrude it in to allow some room for tanks to roll out as said before.

yes this dose increase your polycount but it is needed when modeling.

hope this helps
