RTS Laser Turret
Updated! Textures added!
For which Engine - Custom Engine - normal/spec not supported yet Current Polycount - 1159 Max Polycount - Not sure :P Texture Size - None yet Description of background information on piece - Turret for an RTS game. Where are you looking to receive criticism - Textures! Looking for crits on my modeling. Also I'm wondering if the poly count is too high for an rts item. Any tips welcome. Heres the concept I drew, as you can see I've added a bit to it during the modeling process. The protrusions on the 3D model are supposed to be heatsinks, since it gets very hot when firing, but I might rework them. ![]() New Version: ![]() Texture: ![]() Wires for the unwrap: ![]() Old version: ![]() Last edited by kcbanner; 08-10-2008 at 08:00 PM. |

Ah, very nice...you took an even more blocky style on the armor plates, I like it. I like the proportions too, I might size down the supports and size up the gun a bit. Those Max renders always seem to beat out blender too ;p
@tesher07: I have never done a high poly before in Blender, but I suppose I could try. Not sure how to map the low poly UV to the high poly for texturing though. |

I must say i really like the design you came up with. No problem man, i went with very block as the power need for a laser that size would be huge and the forces would be very large. tesher07: Basically i extruded inward to make a hole, the i created a box the width of the hole, then i rotated it about 30/40 degrees, then shift dragged it down to cover the hole. |
