Lobster Johnson - Mudbox
Hi, i set this thread up as a progress on my mudbox - to max - to unreal character development/learning process...which you've probably seen but i'll post more: (gaaa i named it jobster instead of lobster )
latest: ![]() ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ![]() ![]() low poly mesh ![]() actually i'll enter the thread first with a request for any helpful problem solving - regarding an error( either user or programmatic ) within my mudbox use......... first of all, sculpting was fine - i'd left the files alone for a while and when i got back and travelled up the subdivision heirachies - i'd noticed something was off; when i lept from lvl 3 to lvl 4 - the model seemed to smooth in a semi-faceted fashion (not quite faceted but leaving these weird lines ) e.g: at lvl 3: ![]() at lvl 4: ![]() and a close up of the unwanted effect: ![]() i'd first thought it was a problem with the subdivision options - but regardless wether i'd smoothed it with "smooth positions" off or on it didn't matter - even deleting the highest lvl and re-smoothing it in either option came up with the same effect...... ![]() if anyone has any helpful tips on this it would be great - and id also appreciate any crits you have on the current progress on the model.. cheers. Can't really help you with your problem, not a Mudbox guy.
I do think this is an excellent looking character, I love his head, it's so cool. Your own design? Oh and his thighs are fine, they look perfectly like those classic pants with bulges that jockeys would wear. |

I haven't seen that before in muddy. Definitely looks as if it's doing a faceted subdivide, I had a go at trying to recreate it and had no luck. Did you upgrade versions before swapping or something odd?
Good to see this come back, though I was wondering what happened to him.Changed thread name, too. |

lilgrudgeboy - im pretty sure thats the style of his trousers. Nice model, like the proportions - i had a similar problem, but dont get excited i didn't try and solve it as when i baked the normals the bumps made the cloth on my character read better lol
