What program are you using to model?

If you are using Maya check out the Roadkill Unwrapping plugin. Also take a look at Headus these programs will make you life easier.

Those crystals are broken into way to many parts.

yah its a max thing i for some reason assumed thats what you were using.

apply smoothing to the model, those cylinders look far too hard-faced. And if the faces become filled with smoothing errors just split the hard edges on the diamonds and anywhere you need
