why doesnt the rail system work ? In my eye it would wor know... :S
Yeah and the thing with the hammer >_> thx I didnt notice this failure while modeling... I'll try to fix that.

And yeah there is a clip release. The little Thingy over the clipslot. It can be "pulled" out.

because the shape of the rail system is not correct :P The way attachments are attached on a rail system, is they slide on the rail, or have a plate that is the shape of the rail, and underneath the mount, there is a bar. This bar fits perfectl between the sections of the rail, however, this bar only excists to prevent the accesoire from sliding along the rail. With the shape you have now, if you would attach something, you could take it right of, without using force. The shape it should have:


and please refer to magazines instead of clips, the m1 garand used clips which were inserted in the magazine

small tip, the cocking handles' neutral position is almost always at the barrel side of the weapon.
and yes even the mac11 does so

Great weapon Captain! I really like the design, good mixture of common weapons with a fututistic design. The scope view looks interesting, could give some nice effects with the correct lighting!

Looking forward to see some awesome textures on that baby!

I see the rail is still there...the reason I think it wouldnt work is because nothing that would mount on a rail would have to be there. I think you would be much better off makin the magazine work like the P90's magazine, have it gravity fed from up top. I personally feel like the magazine you have on there now is wimpy in comparison to the front of the gun. Maybe try playing around with that idea though of making the magazine load up top, and go the length of the stock. If you dont like that idea, the gun sort of seems like it should have the magazine up top or for it to be a bullpup (I think thats what its called) design....you know with the magazine behind the trigger. That way it will have a much longer barrel.

Looks pretty good. Since you're going for fictional, why not exaggerate some of the detail, and add more angular shapes to the weapon? Just for general excitement and style

and there is something that you can fit in there, a so called BUIS (BackUp Iron Sight)

for example

it doesnt have to be a folding one though, there are alot of BUIS that are not.

@schuey: thanks. I'll edit a render of the railsystem hopefully it works now... clips <-> magazines, thanks for that, my english isnt really good so it really helps me when someone correct me in that stuff.

@retardedmonkey: I played a bit around with where i should do the magazine and bullpup design looks great, yes. but as i said in first post i want to make a drum magazine also and it wont fit into bullpup design. I even dont know what place holder I should do instead of the magazineinsert ;P.
And yes the p90 idea is great but I already wanted to do that on a smg in future. But thanks, very inspiring critic. And why a rail ? - I think weapons in future must be really flexible, mountaible with different kinds of stuff which makes them perfect in every situation of combat.

@chrisholden: I'll do more some more details, but i want to keep it moderate so it looks fictive but realistic (my polycount is also a bit to high for more details ). I am also planning doing details with normalmaps.

PS: I deleted the sight and the grenade launcher... I didnt liked the sight, and the grenade launcher made it really had looks to top heavy and build with lego....

Ah ok yeah I forgot about the drum magazine idea.

About the rail, I'm not saying dont have any rails on there, I am just sayin that the rail behind the sight thing doesnt seem like it should be there....I dont know about anythign that could mount there....and that sight schuey posted isnt really necesary because it will block that little screen thingy. And isnt that screen thingy the scope? But yeah, definitly put rails up fron and on the sides and where they would be smart, its just that the one behind that screen doesnt seem very smartly placed.

Now about that rail you have there now....couldnt you cut alot of polies down if you normal mapped the grooves into the rail. Just wondering if that would be a way to go. Its lookin cool tho, keep it comin

Ok made a quick render with the new grenade launcher and sight (without detail)

I wrote some explanation on all the different parts that the design is clear :

meh i dont think it would work, but at least it looks cool .
