Hey guys
I am just posting an update on the map I have made a good bit of progress with it and made some models and textures for it. BUT I am not happy with how it’s looking or playing, so I am more or less going to strip back and start again. I learnt a lot while I was developing what I did and it’s taught me a lot more about level design.

I am really looking forward to ripping it out and making something a lot better, some things had just not been nailed down at the start and where really effecting how the map played.

So I will post an update on how it’s coming sometime in the next few weeks.

Mat

Yeah sometimes I do that. I would often take a few looks at some concepts or some reference shots and ... well ... wing it, really.

I think modelling things directly from reference is the best way to get things looking right. Don't take my method lol

Were you worried about the size/gameplay of it. I thought from the shots provided it looked a little small. Maybe better for DM/TDM.

Looking great though. I'm assuming you will keep the textures/assets

It was too small and yet too big at times. I found there was just no room really to run around much and not enough different areas. The new concept I am going for has a lot more space to play with and divides the level up a lot better.

I should point out, the train and bench in the screens I posted where ones that shipped with unreal it’s self. I have a nice wall and ground texture that I made myself that I will most likely carry over and use. I made some models which are fine and just need some texture work done to improve them so I think I will totally re-texture them.
