3D Scrapbook - Ibrahim
I thought it would be a good idea to have just one thread to post all my work and wips, rather then creating one thread for each individual piece of work i do... much less work that way... hehe :P
Anyhoo, here's some game art pieces that i've recently finished. Park Bench ![]() Old Victorian Door ![]() Current WIP: Kitchen Environment ![]() |

The park bench is really top notch. The form is very unique. What is the poly count on that? Also the texture has great color variation in rusted areas. Same for the texture on the old Victorian door, the greens really add a lot to that texture in particular.
Perhaps the Kitchen Environment could use some more geometry on the countertops and the refrigerator as well. Seems slightly on the blocky side right now. I would suggest modeling the cabinet doors and drawers. A nice little addition might be a sheet of stainless steel on the well behind the stove to guard the wall from being splashed with sauces and the like when the stove is in use. Love the style of the environment thou. It seems very old, 1950s perhaps. Especially do to the configuration of the appliances, IE: the freezer on the lower portion of the refrigerator. A refrigerator like this one would look really spectacular in this environment. |

Thanks for the comment there Filbot
![]() The kitchen environment is on hold at the moment, sort of putting a plan for an exterior urban environment. And the building below (Royal Exchange) is going to be the sort of the main focus. ![]() I had worked on a high poly scene with this building, but my brain suddenly blew up in frustration. But this time round, it's going to be low poly, which hopefully should easier on my brain :P I'll upload the plans/blueprints, etc in a little while. |

I loaded up an old model today, and did a little tweaking, general poking, etc, etc.
![]() Here's the original: Ibrahim Wahab - 3D Artist I'm trying to make it look more steampunk'ish, also I think I might re texture the thing too, if I get some time. Last edited by Ibrahim; 05-24-2008 at 03:32 PM. |

Lovely, i realy dig the shapes you have there. I do think there's something vertical missing, a small fin or somehting might do the job i think.
As for the texture part, i don't think there's much to discuss there, just texture it and it'll be twice as strong and meaningfull in your portfolio. I had the chance to show my portfolio to Royal Winshester, which is a guy working at Microsoft Game Studio's on Flight simulator and train simulator if i'm not mistaking. He spotted a spacehip I have on my portfolio and instantly told me that he doesn't look to spaceships on portfolio's because there's no way to tell if they are right or wrong. (if you know what i mean). and all this comming from someone with a wip untextured spaceship on his portfolio... ![]() ![]() cheers

Royal Winchester? Is that really his name? lol .. he couldn't have a posher name if he was married to the queen.
I guess someone working on games like flight and train simulator, you'd expect him to be looking for art work based on real-world vehicles that are accurate. I was playing around with some fins just behind the cockpit actually, it does add that extra bit to the style. I aslo feel there's something missing near the front, but I don't know what other steampunk styley objects I could add there.. hmm, any suggestions? |

hey, if you're looking for steampunk stuff, here are a couple links i found that hopefully can help bring some more ideas for your ship.
Crabfu SteamWorks Steampunk - Gizmodo Boing Boing: Steampunk Archives How to draw Steampunk Machines Steampunk Lab - Powering Steampunk Innovation basically, when i think of a steampunk style, i think of of cogs/gears, tons of pipes, intricate and detailed designs on brass/copper plates, dials, knobs, switches and measuring devices. very old-school use of materials that would run on steam, but in a very technologically advanced way. awesome stuff you have by the way. i love your environment props and buildings.

Just been fixing up on some older models I did
Older Fountain Improved Fountain ![]() I've now created one 1024 texure for the water fountain, instead of two, as well as adding a emmissive map for the pretty swirly patterns around the base. Old Interactive Kiosk ![]() Improved Interactive Kiosk ![]() The only thing I've added to the Kiosk is the screen and a slight illumination to it as well, everything else is pretty much the same as before. |
