H&k Xm8

For which Engine - None, actually. Just portfolio work
Current Polycount - 350k
Max Polycount - 2000
Texture Size - 1024
Description of background information on piece - Acute ear, so I couldn't go to work today
Where are you looking to receive criticism - Modelling right now, since it's only a high poly at the moment

This is the High-Poly for a H&K XM8 I'm working on. Low Poly and textures are going to follow.. When they're done.

Nice, I don't think I've seen an XM8 model before.

The charging handle (the bit you have pointing left under the carry handle) springs back to point forward once you've pulled it by the way.
It can turn either way for left or right handed users but is spring loaded to realign itself with the rifle once used.

Looks pretty good.

Can we see some decent wires? Dark black wires on black background is hard to see.

A full-size screengrab with wireframe overlays will be more than ample.

The clay render looks good. Need some larger pics to be able to check the wires. Make sure you crop your images too.

The area where the bolt and what I believe to be the bullet deflector is wrong. Check out this pic.

Wow, that sounds like quite a design flaw. I'm gonna rotate it back to normal.

Oh thanks, gonna change this

I'm gonna add some better wires soon, till then there's another render showing a different setup. It's a little older, so if you see any things, that are different than the other shots, than chances are high that I changed it already.

Ive never liked this weapon, it looks like a toy and personally i think that when ever it is modeled it looks even more like a toy. It looks as if an accidental fall on the ground would split it in half and loads of springs and plastic ball bearings would fall out... Anyway, the model its self is fine, nice and high poly, lots of good details. maybe the small circular indents in the stock could be a little less chocolaty and more sharp.

Nice work, you've got a nice high poly going. You could keep at it and make it modular so you've got the complete kit.

Well, it's supposed to be as light as possible, so it's just logical, that most of it is made out of plastic, giving it a bit of a toy look. The tan is not helping either I guess, but still, just the silhouette is worth modeling it.
