character pose trials

ok well ive been busy on other things lately and am going away for a week in a few days, but it suddenly dawned on me that i need this character rigged - ive worked on him today and go the body rigged nicely using biped, though ive never used the props system in biped before and am unsure exactly how to connect the gun to the prop bone so if anyone has any tips/tutorials let me know. Ive yet to rig the eyes, theyre a seperate object and i think im going to set up a seperate bone for them to move with, and link it to the biped. Anyways heres a posed shot that i put together, it needs work though but comments and crits welcome

a quick update, ive rendered a few pics without the lights and stuff as i actually think that setup hides an awful lot of shadow info on the model.

I also added more blood to the tip of the knife and tweaked the spec so that its no longer as shiny. (edit-though in this render it looks more shiny? it really isnt in other ones though lol) I tweaked the wood grain texture and specular also so that they are less shiny too

i have animated the character with a salute mo cap file i recorded here at uni, i uploaded it to youtube, the link is below (though its not a great anim to see how well rigged he is admittedly):

YouTube - salute test animation

heres a few renders of the character from different angles:

Heres the pose that i initially modelled the character in, taken from the viewport

IF ANYONE IS STILL READING THIS LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK (lol), ill spend some time on a "beauty shot" a bit later i think, im rammed with work at the moment - if you know any good tutorials about rendering normal mapped characters then let me know

You have really improved upon this since you first posted it. I'm really liking how it has turned out and I think it would look really cool as a Half life 2 character
