You're getting better, but be very careful with your photo sources. You've got far too many types of stone and variation in styles and eras of architecture and decoration there to let it look believeable, as well as using what looks like some ground paving as a wall texture. You've also got stone arches that don't have keystones or that are wholly hewn from one piece of rock.
Try and stick to one coherent style when creating architecture (or, anything for that matter) or things will start to look very, very strange indeed. |

Thanks Talon. Once again I over do it on the image sources, lol. I had'nt based it on anything really, just went into Max modelled out an AO map and start to play with my newwwwwwww wacom in CS2, still cant drew a strait line without holding the shift key. Ya I thought I could get away with it, but its clear thats a floor texture. I had thought that the weakest part was the painted cracks, but I guess I got that part right ? Thanks Dennispls. But I thing I've only got 2 dirt maps on the whole image ? as for noise I have not used that yet ?

Noisey pixelation can be caused just by overlaying, or using, noisy photo sources. You don't have to apply a noise filter to it for it to be noisy
![]() I think, as the other guys have said to a greater degree, you need to theme this more specifically. Use one (or two at the absolute most) types of rock/brick. Your skill in actually applying the photo sources to your texture isn't bad at all. You just need to cut down the range of sources you're using, so it's more beleivable. Which Wacom did you get, btw? ![]() Keep on! |

Well, there's still a fair bit that doesn't sit right with this piece but I think you're right... you're best leaving it and moving on to the next one.
The plan? Next time get actual reference photos of your subject matter - not just texture sources. Play with altering the images to fit your needs - not just throwing an image at your texture and hoping it fits. Change their colour, alter out bits, mix and blend them to create surfaces that match your reference photos. |
