StreetLight
For which Engine - UT2004/UT3
Current Polycount - 339 Max Polycount - 400-500 if changes are needed Texture Size - 1024x1024 Description of background information on piece - A streetlight I've made to practice with using a specular map. Where are you looking to receive criticism - Anything you see wrong, but especially the specular map. _________________________________________________ ![]() ![]() ![]() http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/1953/wiresvh1.jpg http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/8...lightuvvx3.jpg http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/2...tnormalzi2.jpg http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/5...ighspectj4.jpg Last edited by TheCorey; 01-02-2008 at 01:35 AM. It's a little too dark and the texture is blurry. I guess it could work if it's night outside
. One thing that looks out of place is the proportion, I would make it taller, or thinner. Try and make the glass transparent and make a light bulb inside, it will look a lot cooler. The bottom area is a little too bright and far from the light source, I could darken it a little to fit better with the rest.

Thanks for your suggestions.
I've updated my first post with a new version: - Made the model thinner. It's strange, I never saw anything wrong with the proportions but now that I've followed you suggestion it looks a lot better. - added a lightbulb and made the glass tranculent. |

Yep, looks a lot better but I would make it a little taller... and I think you should replace the white light with a worm yellow... It makes it more... worm
Hope you don't mind the paintover.![]() Not exactly like that... I didn't have a lot of time to play with the saturation but you get the idea... You can also add some dirt on the glass... it's always a nice touch, since the streetlight doesn't really look new. Here's a better ref of what I was trying to say. http://www.freefoto.com/images/21/39...-Light_web.jpg Other then that, I like it. The bottom part is a lot better. The specular is subtle and nice ![]()

Finally time for an update!
![]() had alot of trouble with getting it right. Anway, the changes I've made: - made the lamp part yellowish (which you can't see all that well on the white background of this forum) - Added some dirt - made the model a little bit taller - improved some small things here and there. Just want to thank Andrei for his great suggestions! Was fun to see the model improve ![]() |
