Armoured Personnel Carrier.... with cookies!

Ok, I lied no cookies, but lots of phallic shaped guns

For which Engine - None in particular
Current Polycount - Around 10,000 tris not including the wheels or turret
Max Polycount - Nothing specific
Texture Size - Main texture - 2048, wheels - 512, turret - 1024
Description of background information on piece - A futuristic military troop carrier.
Where are you looking to receive criticism - Modelling, styling and more specifically texturing.

Texture Sheet

I'm sort of getting to grips with the whole texturing lark, and I want to get to a good professional standard that will hopefully beef up my portfolio for when I start looking for work. I would very much appreciate some critique on the texturing... and please, be harsh... i can take it :P

Hey dude.

Love the design and the shapes/forms it has. Reminds me of the Aliens APC but bulkier and with a bit more brute force. Both high and low poly meshes look sweet as

I think what's letting it down at the moment is the texture. It feels pretty muddy and blurry and I think that's having the effect of making it look smaller and lower detail than it actually is. It may also be nice to make some of the dirt look brown as if it's mud or dust - the black/grey dirt makes it look quite dead/boring.

There's a lot of grey dirt or wear on the paint, too - which makes it look like it's got a really crap paintjob with very thin paint. It gives the impression that it's a painted metal toy with paint that chips really easily. Try keeping the paint mostly one coloured.

Is there a reason that a lot of the UV space is blank?

nice job on the high poly model

I think you could darken and saturate the base colour of the paint a bit more, its looking quite pale

Very nice!
Maybe draw some dirt in place that close to the ground, and in places where wheels.

I really love the high tech/stealth/brute desing. Quite an inspiration, I've been thinking about doing a futuristic tank at some point, and this might be the push I need to get started.

I agree with all said so far...I wasn't gonna post until there was more to crit. Then I noticed that there are no cookies in any of the pictures and I am quite infuriated. I clicked on this thread in order to see the APC with cookies. Grrrr.

Good stuff so far dude, lets get some more updates!
