to be honest, I have no idea what a tau is supposed to look up close (or rather what you want him to look like), so I can't comment on that. the model's shaping up nicely though, and if you manage to get everything up to the quality you got on the face then we're in for a great one. looking forward to more of this, it's a nice change to see a 40k model that's not another tank or a space marine. :P

Great stuff! As a big fan of Tau, i'm loving this!
Only minor crit is that the lower leg seems too short, thus making the whole leg seem shorter.

Nice Ben, I like all the accessories at his side, I think you should give him a cape and make him shoot spider webs out of his arm. To be unique, and mix things up a bit.
The sizes of the shoulder armor look real good, I love the larger on one side and smaller on the other. Only thing I see that I can really crit on right now is the sword at his side. It seems kind of wimpy, I would make that sucker longer for sure. Oh and his feet look good even though you dislike them ![]() Great work spanky, please keep goin...

Man, I haven't been getting new post reminders for this. I've missed quite a bit ![]() Just wanted to ask how come you haven't set up smoothing groups whilst you've been working? It's looking really cool so far, mate. I love soldier units with loads of equipment. They just look so solid ![]() Keep on dude. Hopefully, I'll be watching ![]()

![]() However this fellow would definately not fit in with emdg's concept, in the 40K universe they use plasma rifles. ![]() |

that's shaping up really well!
Looks like he's carrying a lot on him will that effect his posture you think? High res head looks pretty sweet.

W1LLDAB3AST - thanks for the suggestion, but I'm going with the Tau sniper rifle for this guy
Mike - thanks the sword thing is meant to be a ritual dagger these guy carry but I might end up making it a fully fledged sword Glynn - I dont setup smoothing groups because the faceted view makes it easier to see my mesh spacing. I'll make a seperate version with crotch cannons just for you ![]() Chris - Thanks! I hadnt noticed that on the leg. That part is going into Zbrush so I'll fix it up in there. thanks for the comments guys. Heres a bit of work on the high res body armour, still very wip, the squigly parts will be fixed up when I smooth again, just keeping it low just now for quick saving... ![]() |
