doylles collection of pixels and vertices.

For more recent work, please go to the last page. Thanks

I've seen some people start a "3d scetchbook" thread, and I realy like that idea, so it's time that I start my own. Still thinking about the best way to present everything, like texture sheets and such, but i gues when that'll get sorted out when we hit page 5 in a couple of months...

anyway, first piece. It's for the HL2 minimod i'm working on, and since ingame advertisement is a hot topic nowadays, i figured what the hell, and made this.

I'll post some ingame shots asap, but with the new source sdk update i'm not sure when that'll be...

I like it, textures look good, do you have a separate spec for this piece? What maps are you using?

The only crit i have is if this is one of those boards where you slide the advert in and out at the top/ sides then they usually have a thin, clear, protective layering in front of them, to stop the scrotes tearing them apart. Yours just looks like its painted into the boarding.
I'm assuming the lego model is on the back ?
Nice job, show us more.

nice work, turned out well. got to agree that a shiny glass plate in front of the poster would be nice. then again, that might not be so common in... wherever you're from. who knows.

Nice work.

You need an image of that billboard on the GA billboard, though :P

@showNOmercy: Diffuse, specular and Self illumination (it's one of those board with neon lights) View maps

@UnsteadyTeddy: Yea, that lego car one is on the back. I ripped it of this site, which is the home page of the course i'm following . i thought about the glass plate for a second to, doing two faces so that i could add dirt on the glass, and make it look shiny. But I was to lazy to actualy do it i think. I aslo thought about having the actual posters on a different texture, so that i could easely change them with not to much trouble. But I mainly wanted to make a more or less clean prop, with dirt but only very little rust. I kinda forgot about all the rest realy.

@WesleyTack: hehe, yea. Well I just wanted a sticker, didn't know wich one at first, and google image search gave me a StuBru sticker on page 1 when i searched for "sticker"

@weasel.acuh5o: Yea, we have those glass plates to here in Belgium. Some of those advertsiment posters are realy wanted (they make realy nice student house decoration, so i've heard)

@Talon: thx. hehe, yea, that could look pretty cool actually

Nooice!

I really love your lighting setup, it pwns everytime It's rendered right, not a screengrab?

I just noticed one thing that kind of bothers me...mind you its small but I figured I'd say it just to seem smart. The water drips along the top part make it look like there is stretching going on with that upper segment. I guess just cut back some of the trails of dirt dripping down, this way it isn't going all the way down, along the whole length....if that made any sense at all.

Now please dump some more

doylle, i love the little details you pack into your textures. It really makes them stand out from the crowd.
I have no idea how you do it, but i would enjoy seeing your work flow from base paint to detailing over.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work, it's really inspiring.

I agree, having a number of them only going half way down the "border" will make it look less stretchy.

Otherwise, goodjob, as previously meantioned the attention to detail you seem to be able to master really makes your textures stand out.
