Hey, im new to this forum. Found it completely by accident (cant believe I have never heard of it before!). Ive been modelling in max for quite some time now, however I took a break from it all when I went to uni last September. Thought i'd try and get back into it over the summer. Anyhow, heres something I made today- took about 2hours.

Yeh, it pretty much is the SA80. Im sure there are some subtle differences between the two.

Well, it really is the same thing but in a different context.
SA80 (Small Arms for the 1980's) is the designation of a family of weapons that is made up of the L85 IW and L86 LSW.

As for the L85, it's gone through 2 variants, L85A1 and L85A2, there's only very slight external differences though...mainly only the cockinghandle.

Now for WIP, here's something I slapped together during an hour and a half worth of boredom yesterday. Textures are still highly WIP.

Highpoly vs lowpoly comparison with wires

@jr_walker, think your pistol grip on your L85 (is it a A1 or A2? will be a slightly different model, mainly with the coking handle etc) needs more rounding off, at the mo its kinda blocky.

apart from that its looking pretty good, would like to see the right side of the rifle thou.

Thanks Rhino; it is the A2 version i think (checked with some images). Yeh definatly does need rounding off a bit, edges are far too sharp. Will fix it at a later date as I only did this for practice. Cheers for the crit though mate!

>> Right side as per request
(Never got round to modelling the bit where the cartridge pops out... forgot the name of it)

Ye the pistol grip needs lots of work, here are some really good refs we took at Bovington of the L22A2, the Carbine version of the L85A2, more or less the same gun just a lot smaller length wise, used by crewman etc.

Here is some L85A2 with a AG36 UGL

Dont have any direct refs of the L85A2 since we made our ones ages ago thou that should help you
