perhaps this model is better? its cleaner anyway. guess that helps. oh, and i based it off a door model from mirrors edge (its rough shapes anyway)

Much better. But grunge, dirt and such shouldn't be on the normal map in my opinion.

depends on the dirt really if its a thick coating of mud then surely that would need to be on the normal map

@irishlostboy: the texture of those wires look a bit stretched, maybe scale it down a little. other than that looks nice.

crazyfool: Saw that over on PC. I'm liking it, especially the hair. He's got a great character to him

I'd maybe push a little more colour or saturation into the bags under his eyes. Perhaps a little more red or even a slight purple can look good.

This is a near finished render of my "Command Shell" hat for Team Fortress 2 (for the contribution blogpost.)

This is my first time working on a higher poly model and using it to enhance the lower poly model (ambient occlusion, normal maps, ect.). I'm really pleased with the look and happy that I can have the model blend in well with the original TF2 art style. Hopefully my hat gets chosen to be included in the real game as a community item. That would make my day.
