Posting some work from the current contract I've been working through - Having a blast making pedestrian models / textures for this pedestrian simulation software.
Here's 3 out of 48 I have more completed, but I don't think it'll be a good idea to post them all at once (Original model by Talon, sliiiiiiiightly modified by me)![]() Last edited by glynnsmith; 10-10-2008 at 01:11 PM. |

Taking money in exchange for my mesh!? :O
I keed, it's cool. They're looking good texture-wise but the pose is really rigid and a bit hunch-backed. I think they'd look a lot more natural if you can relax the pose a bit (put the hips forward, bring the shoulders back and down a bit, etc). The skin tones are a little dead looking, too, which isn't helping the rigid look - they could do with some saturation and more varied colours. |

Are you getting paid for that contract using someone else's model?.. I'm not sure if Talon is really alright with that, but you should really be creating all the assets you are getting paid for yourself, or pay him for the use of his mesh.
Texture is looking pretty cool so far though, that's a lot of guys to do.. there's some blackness on his crotch though on the two on the right. Last edited by X-Convict; 10-10-2008 at 11:33 AM. |

Haha. I wish! Rest assured that not getting paid for your mesh
I'm getting paid for texturing and animating it though, so it works out :PI know he's super white. That's to a point, really - I've got to do Afro-Anglican, Eastern Asian and Far-Eastern Asian variations, so it kind of needs to be obvious, although he kind of looks a bit gothic. I'd best take a look at that :P I'll sort the pose out when I rig him ![]() X-Convict, please remain calm! There's no need for that kind of tone. You don't have to burn my house down just yet ![]() |

I don't think he actually stole the model
![]() Anyways.. working a bit on a char myself.. my first to ever be complete, and I said so for all the chars I've been working on, but god damnit, I gotta finish one for once ![]() And as you might know, I suck at organics, so any feedback is greatly appreciated. ![]() Sorry for the poor quality, but don't want a too big filesize. And ye, his fingers are too long, that's intended ![]() Cheers!

Tiros - looks extremely rigid, even for a bind pose. Try and get some form in the hips and ribcage. I think that will make it look less boxy

lolI take this matter very seriously, but I don't want to allow it to bring this thread down. If you want to talk about it further, please PM me I can't really pull the specifics of this contract through the public forum for obvious reasons. |

I don't mean to insult you, but believe it or not there are people out there that do not understand that doing something like that is illegal and are clueless enough to post what they are doing. I don't assume you are one of those people from your current posts. I also believe that the contract should be able to be exposed, and the only thing I can think of that you couldn't share your contract information would be to state you can gain your work material from anywhere, which is basically saying you can steal. Nonetheless I only asked in the first place because of my first statement and personal choice to try and help protect an artists work.
I won't continue this matter here anymore in respect to the thread, but I hope that in the least it may enlighten a serious topic for even a few. It's definitely a serious topic discussed on Polycount by professionals many times over, and it's something to keep in mind. |
