Thought I'll make this kind of thread for me... since I work a lot with various models and stuff and don't want to make a new thread for everything I want to show.
I just got one part of a character skinned, the skin: ![]() Next I'll texture the cloak, I'll add some ornamental decorations in it and possibly do couple variations. |

It's not a hood, it's just a collar. I had a hood on it, but it didn't look so good. It become really huge, because the neck is so long.
I've made some progress on the cloak texture, finally getting some pleasing looking base texture. Testing couple colours, since in the game you can change the colour of the player character. ![]() |

Great modeling, but I think the concept needs some work. It just doesn't seem believable to me. Whenever I think up a concept, I try first decide on an environment. How would my creature/being evolve to use this environment? For example: your alien has a long neck, but he looks like he evolved from a carnivore (the tongue is very snake-like). On earth, carnivores have thick, short muscular necks ideal for ripping. Also, animals with long necks on earth (giraffe of course comes to mind, but also horses to an extent) have very strong torso muscles and lots of weight/body on the side opposite of their neck. They use four legs because if they were on two they would be top heavy. These are the kind of things that come to mind with your concept; even though its alien, it just doesn't seem plausible.
For the model, I have nothing to crit. The cloak is turning out great. The new texture really defined the collar as a collar rather than a hood. I hope you rig this guy! |

There are other stuff that are going to give me some trouble in with this long neck. It has some rifle, it puts it against the shoulder and tries to look through the sights. It needs to put the neck in some strange position or not support the weapon against the shoulder... But maybe I need to make some more stranger looking weapons than those I've modelled so far.

The coat is getting nice and nice as you go along, the last one is really cool some good details. Can we get a version with black and white? The trim around the edge of the coat, wrists and shoulders being a white with the coat black. Doing a really over the top contrast like that can be hard to pull off but if it works it should look rather nice.

I did a test with shorter neck.. shortened it 12cm. I think I'm not going to do anything to the uvw maps though, so there's are some extra vertical resolution in the neck.
About the colours.. The engine will handle the colours with some two colour change maps. So I should probably get the default colours in the skin in some neutral tone... But the colour change only work with player characters, which will be just fine for this, since it'll be a player character. ![]() I did some gun concept, hand drawn, colours and shades with computer.. the character could probably use one of these: ![]() Ah yea.. I think the exposed coils won't be exposed really, they will be inside a transparent anti electronic shield, so you don't electrocute yourself, if you accidently touch the coils, when they're charged.
