3ds max 9: Low poly char.

Hello, this is the first time I try to make a low poly character. I want to make some sort of soldier like in Battlefield 2142. I already tryed to make the legs. But now I want to make the body but I don't know how to connect is to the legs. Any help?

Greetz,
Jeroen

/Edit: Where can I get some good textures for soldiers?

umm well first off make the body using a new mesh and using "attach" make both meshes work on the same level
then you can connect the borders using bridge or sometimes using target weld, weld the verts to the legs.

I moved your thread into WIPs so you can keep posting up progress and get help as you go along

Only build one leg, then mirror it. You can spend twice as long on that leg knowing your other leg will be of the same standard.

Have you got reference images? Refef to them constantly.

The presentation of the model for us to critique could be improved - shameless plug:

It also looks like you've built him leaning backwards. Move the feet backwards a little so that his center of mass is directly over the feet.

Hey, welcome to the site

Yeah you definitly need to be using some sort of references, modelling your first char without them is a total disaster...I know

Also you might want to watch some of Ben Mathis tutorials before you even start, seems to me like you are just walkin in the dark there. His tutes should give you a good idea of how to start, and what you should look for.

Ben Mathis Tutorials

Good luck

Here I tried to make the legs better, I thought I might give it some armor. Don't shoot me if it's worse
I'll follow the tutorials that retardedmonkey gave me.

/Edit: I've got a little problem with my 3ds max, When I select a polygon, only the edges of it glow red, normally the whole polygon is red then. And another problem. I don't have my thing to move objects over a certain axis (forgot the name :s) Like I select a vertex I don't see those lines how I can move it.

Hey Vendetta, fellow newb here. I think pressing X will bring back the colored arrows.
