@ Chris: Very sexy texture, love it!

@ ElliottB: It's weird to see those bricks bend over the corner like that. Technicaly it's not impossible to have round bricks, but yours are to random to make it credible...

latest creation...

texture completely created in photoshop.

Doyle:

Good start, and too bad looking for being all hand painted in PS. Couple of observations though.

1 - First thing I noticed was the chipping paint. Just feels odd to me. I can't really quite put my finger on it. Maybe because it has a very dark outline around every area that's chipping? That would pretty much suggest that shadows are being casted every direction, which just doesn't make sense.

2 - the wheels are 8 sided cylinders. You should probably at least double that. Comparing it with other cylinders on the prop (like they hydraulics and handles) it looks extremely low. The hydraulics may have the same amount of sides, but you can't really tell because they are facing up. The wheels are just too low poly. Just think of that thing was rolling with several crates. They'd fall off because of how much bouncing it would do

Good start though, keep at it.

The paint's looking mighty clean for being so abused and chipped away.

I'd expect to see lots of dirt and scratches on it. Oil smears, etc...

The dark outlining is undercoat, but too dark in this case, the undercoating is usually an off white, sometimes witha tint of blue.

Doyle: Yeah, I understand the bad choice of geometry for displaying those textures, but considering I originally intended to display my concretes on that generic building I think it looks alright. ;]

Edit: See, yet another usage of that generic building to show off textures I'm working on.

@ JPowers: yea, the paint was done with the pencil tool in photoshop, so it may look a litte "pixelated". i'll look into it. About the cilinders, yea, good point. needs some fixing

@ Talon: I was frugal with the oil and lubricant becouse i wanted to give it a dusty look (hence the grey dust, which should be concrete dust). I'll add more dirt, give it a more natural look.

@ pankake: i was more thinking about accumulations of dirt, but undercoat could work to . Either way they are to dark...

I have some other stuff that needs to be finished first, so i can't realy get to this in the next couple of days. But i figured i'dd let you know i appreciate your input.

I'll see about putting together some sort of mini-tutorial for you this evening. The process behind assembling the materials speaks volumes over just seeing them.

Although I agree on the comments given above, I think I have a valuable addition. The wear on the side of the object, and the wear on the handles, is exactly the same type. This is strange, cause both places, suffer from a different kind of friction that is causing the wear. The edges on the handles need to be more diffuse, and less paint should come off.

I believe this will add to the object in being more believable, atleast in my opinion :P
