Heh thanks a lot guys. For oblivion i do need to probably double or triple the strength of the normal and the spec to make it look right so i'll be doing that once the shield is done.

DooFi - you are right, i tried drawing black squares onto the diffuse but the belts go in a bit off centre and the lower cuirass is a mirrored tex so it doesn't line up on both sides. I could add little boxes to the ends of the belts and texture those up though, i think that would work quite well.

Stormy - i'll go make a pose for him in a bit :)

I've seen this concept here http://www.game-artist.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2424 and was stunned, so i just started out to model it- for practice.

modeling low and high is almost done and i will start uv soon but if someone has crits please make a note. perhaps i should add some more details on the high poly.

low has 3100tris and will get 1024˛ textures

thanks warape

// edit: after insane 10 hours of work im done with almost all, only the texture needs some tweaking.

3058 tris 2048˛ diffuse (will reduced to 1024˛)
1024 normal
1024 specular

i will try to get it into source (hl˛ sp)

Ironhawk: I think you could put a bit more geometric detail in there, mate, unless this is for something quite lowpoly.

I'd definitely suggest getting the ribs done with geo, as well as the top rim and cap, too. Shouldn't cost you all that much and will help to make it look quite a bit better.

I like where you are with the texture, but it's looking quite blurry atm. Get it sharper and it'll look ace You could also try making some of the straighter scratches a more metallic (greyer colour + spec) material.

I like your env, too. I hope you're going to keep on with that.

Best,

G

fountain

Hey fellas,

Started working on an environment piece, well, the main piece of a small environment piece.
It's barely been touched , working from the ground upwards, still got a sclupt out more details in the bottom before moving to the inside of the fountain.

Did I mention Zbrush 3 is amazing?

I'll most likely make a thread for it later on.

Depends what you mean by "model oriented" zbrush 3 is basically all that zbrush2 was, with some new insanely handy cool features. It's mainly a sculpting package. I don't really know what you mean by model oriented though...

-thanks Thonz ^^

Neoshroomish - its still uses the 2.5d tool based workflow but there is a new rapid UI that basically gets rid of all the crap and just lets you sculpt
