#008 - Gateway to the Afterlife
Time to post again here... after almost 2 months... shame on me
![]() So... after 2 weeks of doing stuff like this on a beautiful island somewhere in Greece I came home eager to do something fast and fun. I did this:![]() As the title says it's for a minicomp at gameartisans about a gateway to the afterlife. It's not really a gateway (as in portal) but it represents the passing to the other side. The idea is that you're places in a cart and depending on how good you were you're going to Haven or Hell (there's a switchgear in the loop). I tried to make it as stylized as I could and I'm going with a TF2 kind of texturing... I'm hoping it will look good. I'll start texturing tomorrow but if you have any tips on how I can improve the model or if you spot any mistakes let me know. The budges was 7000tris and I took advantage of all of them I will have 4x1024x1024 textures for this. It's a lot for the simple thing I have there but I enjoyed making nails, bolts and small details under the cart that will never be seen So, yes, it's all about having fun.And to answer the questions in the previous post: My plans for the coach keep changing I want to practice some more normal mapping so I'm redoing it. I'll make a highpoly first and then the lowpoly. So I guess it's too early now to talk about the style of the texture... I guess I'll go for a royal look... but looking at my previous work I might just end up with a damaged one When it comes to colors and details I'll keep it close to the real thing though. The Paprika is on hold for now Does anyone else feel the need for 40h days?

Anyways I digress hope you get on well with texturing your coach. ![]()

illybang I saw your thread a few times and you're doing a great job there. Keep it up! I'll keep an eye on it and post some comments when I get some more free time. Right now we're getting ready to submit the beta at work and it's hard find time even to check out the forum to see the new posts
![]() Thanks Briamond and Diegio Here's the progress so far: ![]() The top part is not started yet... I just added some color quickly. I'm not entirely happy with the ivy I have done... and it's my 3rd test It's getting better though but I want it perfect ![]() I also need some more color variation in there... somehow the concept for this was entirely made from wood... and this doesn't help with readability. I have to think of some clever way to add some other colors in there. The model uses 4x1024 textures... here are 2 that I worked on today: ![]() As I said... there's a lot of work that needs to be done on this before it's finished but it's a lot of fun.

#009 - Mosquito - Chemical Warfare Specialist
I got really excited about the new lowpoly comp and started working on my idea
Turns out that I wasn't as original as I was hoping... someone else is making the same thing. Anyway... since I considered the poly limit a little lower then what I'm looking for right now I'm making this a personal project with a limit somewhere around 3.000, maybe 4000. Texture size will be the same, 1024x1024. Maybe a different 512x256 for the wings... still thinking about it. Will decide when I get there.Hope that TheBladeRoden and yoyomon are OK with it I should have posted earlier ![]() I also need some order in my life. I keep starting models and never finish them. I'm setting some rules for myself from now on... I WILL finish a model once a month. This month it's this guy. Anyway... here's something I did with primitives to see if the proportions will work (take it as a doodle, I won't use it as a base mesh)
