Tank_Concept
Hey there guys, posting one of the personal projects I have been working on during my free time. The concept is done by feng zhu here is his site if interested.Feng Zhu Design
Anyways, one of the main reasons for this post, besides sharing it with the community, was to receive some feedback on the layout for my UVs. For instance should I just have a 2048x2048 map for the body and the accessories and than have a separate 1024x2048 map for the tank tracks. Also are 4096x4096 maps friendly for games? Hope it makes sense what I am trying to communicate. Love to here back, so I can move forward with the project. Cheers tank_concept.jpg Some early high poly, keep in mind I am going to add more details through a height map feng_concept.jpg feng_concept2.jpg feng_concept3.jpg UVs Object_UV.jpg Also any other outside feedback will be welcome, thanks. |

It's looking good so far, however you do have some texture distortion (at the 2 cannon/turrets thingies and the top section where the cannon is). Should be an easy fix since it's (I think) a flat area.
Can't wait to see the textures ![]() (I'll try to make a picture making it a bit more clear where the distortion is but I'm in class right now so, you'll have to wait a bit :P) |

Hello forums, back again with some small updates. Sorry for the long wait, busy with other projects
.I know is not much, but hopefully these next few days I should make bigger progress (fingers crossed). Right now, here are some shots of the low poly with AO,Normal, and super early stages of the diffuse. screenshot0.jpg screenshot1.jpg screenshot2.jpg screenshot4.jpg |

It looks good so far! Can't say too much, the shapes are good overall, and the diffuse is in a super-early stage, as you mentioned.
(The only nitpick I could think of is the dirt in the front. It should be a "thrown up dirt" but it looks like an "upside down leak" to me.) |

Hello there back again, with diffuse, spec, normal. Will say this is about 87% done, we still need to go back and fix placement of the dirt.
Hoping receive some feedback to see if I am heading in the right track, in terms of material definition, etc. Also I know the lighting is not amazing and was wondering if anyone knew any lighting set ups that is good for presentation. Back with another update, this time did some major changes.
Reworked the high poly for better baking, fix the uvs to avoid any stretching and also gave more space to the areas that will grab the most attention, made a new AO, and lastly retexture the tank itself. Some feedback for future projects would be nice, but for now will work on the tank tracks. 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg 4.jpg 5.jpg |

I like where this is going.
![]() But there are two things: your scratches are too orderly. You should paint it a bit more noisily. (I mean at least on the back part of your tank.) Also, I don't really like the CAUTION and Engine room sign on the top. For one, it's too modern, second, it's in english, although your tank seems to be german (at least it is in the concept art). Try using Google Translate or ask for a german fellow to translate it for you (GT does the job, if your sentences are simple). Also use a gothic font, try searching for german WW2 propaganda and you see what I mean. I just noticed, the boot mark next to the ladder (if compared to the concept) is too big. But overall it's going on the right path, keep it up! ![]() |
