Masakari's Art WIP thread

For which Engine - Project Deus mod (UT3) / Portfolio
Current Polycount around 6800
Max Polycount 7500
Texture Size - 2048*2 for robot, 1024*2 for minigun
Description of background information on piece - This is the "Daedalus HK" robot, he is a special Hunter-Killer robot, deployed only on the most important and difficult missions. His two "Zahn" Drones act as weapons, spotters, and advanced sensors (the Hunter role), enabling the bot itself (the Killer bit) to close in and finish the job!
Where are you looking to receive criticism - low poly topology, and generally uv mapping & skinning
_________________________________________________

Concepts - Regular / Heavy Variant:

"Daedalus HK" hi poly (around 20 million polys):

"Zahn" Drone + "Barrage" Minigun hi polys (around 4.5 million polys):

Low poly set (still some tweaks to come):

Good high-modeling. I don't like the hands, but thats a matter of taste i guess.
I'm very curious about how it will look low-poly normal mapped.

Sexy! Really like the highpoly model, if it all works out it's going to look freakin sweet once you normal map it. How long did you spend on the high poly?

I agree the hands seem like they didn't get that much attention, and kind of just got settle for less with boxy hand/fingers. Great work either way!

looking great, especially the concept art. only minor crit would be that the feet look better in the concept than in 3d, probably a matter of taste though.

Thanks everyone! Some early Normal Map testing, just diffuse, normal, and diffuse as specular. A lot of errors to fix, dunno if it's better to fix them, or redo the uvs in a different way.
