First steps in UDK
Hey guys,
As the title says, I want to step into UDK a little bit. I want to create an environment (a small map) witch will take place in the '80s into an abandoned factory. I will create only the exterior of the map, the yard. The thing is...I'm not sure what is the best method to do that. I saw a tutorial on 3Dmotive on modular texturing, what do you think about that? Or is it better to model every building separatelly? Almoust every building will be diferent from each other. Any advice and comment is very welcome. Here is the top view of the map. ![]() |

Yo! On the UDK site there are about 20 or 30 video tutorials by 3dbuzz or something that are excellent. They will take you by the hand and lead you on a fun journey that will familiarize you with the engine. There are loads of tips on how to best model and texture and you will be building scenes with excisting assets that will make your mouth water.
You can find the tutes on the 3 videos page. Hope that helps Cheerio |

Thanks guys,
I know those tutorials and websites, they are pretty good. On this project, I want to create my own textures and apply them in UDK, but I wasn't sure about creating modular buildings or not. I will model everything in Max, create the texture in PS and assemble the map in UDK. I'll try both tehniques (modular and every building separately). |
