Thompson 1928

I found a small project I started on about a year ago but didīnt finish. Itīs a Thompson 1928 and this is the HighPoly model that i later going to use to bake the normal map.

Iīm currently working on some of the fine detail that i want on the normal map.

C&C and suggestion are very welcome.

BTW: Itīs my birthday!

Looking pretty solid, some of those details are so small they might not come out on the normal map - looking forward to be proven wrong! Also I'd try and loosen some of the chamfered edges up a bit especially on the edge of the magazine for more variation

Happy Birthday too!

MrN: Encouraging to hear, thank you!

RedAppleIvy: softened up the hart edges on the mag, sound advice indeed! and Thanks.

Started working on the low-poly. Its coming along nice and smooth. the tricount is rather high though (almost 6000) but still have ALOT of optimizing to do and also modeling.

so let me hear it!

Is there any chance you could post some wire shots overlayed of the shaded preview? We could give you some better feedback if needed once we see how its structured? Good start on the low poly.

Hello. so i got some time to work on the LowP. and I got everything in place. iīm gonna want this to render beautiful in both CE and UDK and the model is at 7582 tris,

does this sound way to heavy?

could probably shave of some 500-1000 tris by dividing the smoothing groups and welding.

The polycount belongs to the project your working on. If its a first person shooter it should be okay, if its third person its depending on the specs which uses the game.
~7500 Tris for a portfolio assets are OK, if you can reduce it without losing any detail, espacially to the shape, I would do this, but your wires are looking quite nice^^

Thanks MrCash.
Note to myself about future projects: donīt chamfer all the edges before you know where u gonna put your smoothing groups, it makes for less tense geometry and less welding!
