This is my first "real" attempt at a game character

Hey guys,
So like i said in my intro post I have been doing this for about 6 month and thaught I would test my skills. I have no concept art because I suck at drawing and I'm not sure were to go for some good free ones that can be used. any way I have been sculpting on this guy and thought it was good enough to turn into something, not sure what yet. I would like to get this part right first before moving on.

not too worried about the toes as I plan on using shoes
thanks for looking

Hi Tyan.
Welcome to GA.net This is your second post. The first was an intro. I know because I validated them
Got some nice stuff going on in your figure above. The lower legs, or the leg muscles themselves are a bit weak in the front view. They look better in the 3/4 view so you will have to match that up. Hands are looking nice. Keep up the good work.

Cheerio

Thanks kanga I'll get working on that. But first Something happened to my music on my computer, so I have to fix that first, don't have a clue as to what happened to it though. Also I have a question: would it have been better to have kept the head on the model? My plan was to do the body and costume and then do head and helmet (if there is one) or is it best to go full body and then full costume?

Okay so I think I just hit epic fail. I thought I could add the head later, guess that cant be done. So this little project is now going to be called an anatomy study . Please let me know if there is somewhere that is wrong on him, because to my untrained eye it looks fine to me.

Thanks

Sorry for the late reply.
No failure, you can add anything later, or sooner, it doesn't matter.

I would do a full body in one go because I like to see the head attached, but that isnt the way to do it, just my way. I dont know what app you are working it, looks like a mudbox colour. Just put the head on a different layer. Your character may require different heads depending on the game mechanic so then a detatched one would be a requirement.

If not then just make sure you dont attach a uved part with a non uved part, if you do just redo the uvs. If both parts have their own uvs and they have to be one model make sure the uvs dont overlap, or that they at least use different space.

The model is looking good. Make sure the musculature is balanced. For example there are almost no tricepts while there is a bicept that needs to be balanced. Also try make sure the parts look like they come from the same figure. The legs might look a bit light from the front view atm although a better shape than they were.

Keep it up.

Thanks Kanga, I'll keep going with it, you talked me into it . Yes I am using Mudbox right now (Student licensing) along with Maya (Also Student), Blender, and a fully licensed Topogun.

Thanks again.
