[UDK/Environment] Medieval harbor
Hi everyone,
I've been lurking on these forums for a while now and decided to finally make a post about a scene I'm working on to get some C&C. I've been working on this scene for a while and I think it's almost done. Though I like to get some more feedback from you guys. I started the scene as practice for modular environment modelling. I've got the feeling its still missing something. Any tips/advice/feedback would be very welcome! I've already posted this on some other forums, but I'm not getting much feedback there, hoping to get some here. ![]() Thanks in advance! a video: Harbor environment (wip) on Vimeo And here are some screen caps! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks in advance! |

Reminds me a LOT (particularly the first two shots) of the first town from The Witcher 2, although it's name escapes me now..
Perhaps the planks on the dock are too saturated, could use more wear, tear and grime? |

That looks very pretty, I'm not usually one for grime but there could be a bit more in this. Its a very new looking town. there's a bit of funny sorting going on in your water there as well. Very nice overall though.

More grunge!
I also think you could have a think of the mood you're trying to convey. The lighting is very bright and cheerful, but your colour palette is mostly brown. If you want the mood to be positive, I'd suggest adding some brightly coloured elements - the canopies over the market stalls would be ideal for that. Maybe add some flowers to your greenery and adjust your lighting angle so the main square isn't in so much shadow. You also probably wouldn't have torches burning on such a sunny day. If you want a darker, bleaker tone, then I'd suggest desaturating things and maybe add a bit more blue to your palette. |
