Porsche 962 WIP

I needed a project to keep me busy over the christmas period, as I have never made a car before I decided on the Porsche 962.

Ive only done the first basic pass on the diffuse so far but I am back to the day job tommorow and could do with a break.

I want to make the car look like its just completed a 24 hour race covered in dirt, dead insects, oil stains and may be some race tape holding something in position.

comments and crit welcome.

Looking good so far. It's a pretty early wip texture wise I see, so not much to crit on that. What are the specifications of this model like texture sizes, polygons etc?

The model is just over 10k poly`s but I may go back in and add a little to the interior as that is really basic at the moment and could do with a little more as for the texture it is 2048x2048.

for a 2048*2048 it is rather blurry. Maybe it is the screenshot itself, else try to sharpen the texture with unsharp modifier in PS. It is indeed a early WIP like joukejan said, but I would do something with the tires. The white isn't so beautiful i think... maybe it is personal taste, but you can go way more crazy .
Also watch out with white textures, make sure it is not to bright.

I think the blur is more down to the render but I will certainly try and sharpen it to see if I get some improvement, As for the white yeah I need to knock it down a bit something I had realised after posting this up, thanks for reinforcing what I was thinking. Agreed the tyres need some work as doesmost of the texture, any suggestions ?

Ok Ive played with the colours a little turned the white down quite a bit. Also as I see far too many clean car models I thought it would be fun to make it look like its done a 24 Hour race, just the interior to detail a little more and add the specular and normal maps.

Nice! Looking much better now. I'd like to see some shine on that glass, though

Its on its way, the first attempt at a specular was crap and I need to rethink my approach.
