Octopi troubles

Hi all have more to show than this and will update my whole scene soon. Just posting this because im struggling with the texture side of the octopus, so if anybody could give me so ideas of what to do with the texture that'd be great I'll also be adding more edge loops for the tenactles as they're a little juttery right now.

Had fun creating the z brush model very quick and easy started with z spheres and used radial symmetry to create the arms and simply used alpha's for the rest

Awsome work man, environment is really coming together I think that you could be a little bit more creative with the octopus, inject some life in there, Add some more colour in there. i think giving it alot of colour will add alot to your scene overall, it will really stand out in a good way though. here is some ref hope it helps.

Environmeant update

Hi guys thought i'd make a update, tv textures still a little rough so will work on that soon. I created an outer building from modular pieces but its looking a little stale however I'll be adding billboards a water tower and ivy to the building, I think it will start to look a lot more natural. I worked a little more on the octopus texture and have also revisited the water tank texture as I wasn't happy with it. (However you can't see it very well in the images) Hope you guys like it.

Also thanks Graze! I tried a few different colour's for the octopus might put them up later and see if anybody likes the other colours, its a deep purple in the concept and I'm thinking of changing it to match however I don't want to go as crazy as the reference as it would throw of the colour balance for the room!

THINGS STILL TO DO!

-go back into max and edit the door width as they are too wide right now--------->Done
radiator--------->Done
book case--------->Done but needs doing again
-add more grunge/ wear and tear to the door textures
-add Wires plug sockets
-sort carpet alphas out
-create more assets to fill the room:
-Lamp
-Need to create photo's to get an idea of his personality
-filing cabinet
-really need to start putting light fixtures in.

-create outside environment:
Building--------->Done
billboard
water tower
Lowpoly highrise
Ivy
watershader and sand for riverbank

Please Leave feedback and or suggestions of things to add or fix!

Environmeant update

So I got to show this to the lead artist from Epic games and the Lead Tech artist from Naughty dog, which made me decide to move things around slightly. I would have made a bit more progress on this but unfortunatly somebody broke into my house and stole everything I own luckily I had all my work on a harddrive which was on me at the time, so if any of you aren't backing up your work my advice is to start!

Oh man, that's just terrible Nothing is worse than when people steal from you. I'm glad you were able to keep your work, but that just plain sucks! Same thing happened to me a few years back, which prompted me to get a big dog. I don't have that problem anymore...

Scene looks great and I'm glad you got some pro advice. Lighting looks really good so far, and the leather materials are popping well. Looks like the room could use some subtle atmospheric dust in the air (perhaps just in the sunlit parts). Could add some flavor.

Keep rocking, and hope you get a lucky break sometime soon

Sorry to hear that. You have wise advice by saving and backing up the work. Since they stole everything though, where did you keep your backup?

And your environment looks great. I really enjoy the lighting. If I were playing the game and I had to go through this environment, I really think I'd look at everything simply because it looks like there's lot to explore!

Zbrush update

@Polygoblin Thanks man! I haven't had that lucky break yet car got broken into a few days ago! But didn't let it get me down I'm starting to consider getting a big dog now..

@DavidMcKenna Why thanks! I like your octopus

@sirkibble2 I keep a 500gb hard drive on me which is a backup of my work I also backup to my laptop and I sometimes do a backup swap with my friend. investing in a Dropbox is a great idea I have it but honestly rarely backup to dropbox ( also windows Skydrive is terrible don't bother using it. )

Hey there so Im back up and running got a new laptop to replace my old one too Today I've been playing with Zbrush and practicing cloth sculpting.

This was my first attempt. I thought it really lacked the look of wieght that real cloth has.

2nd attempt.

Cloth for the Queen Anne seat. I also tried to give the chair a bit more character with some wear and tear.

I then sculpted a Cardboard box, a bit over the top but it was a good exercise and I wanted it too look quality as they are going to be repeated in the scene. The in game shots don't do them justice i'll get another shot next update

Created the blinds. I really tried to get his character into this part of the environment, to show that he is impulsive and doesn't have people round often so it doesn't matter if it is untidy.

Created alpha planes of fog and placed them in front of the windows and in the octopus tank to give a bit more atmosphere and depth, it is very subtle but does make a difference

Created an oak coffee table. Not sure if I should add inset marble to the top of it.

I have started the outside vista but it will take me a while to finish so I'll wait until I'v got something worth showing. I'v also been fixing general problems that have been buging me.

Apologies for the picture barrage, hope you enjoy
