Hey guys
![]() I could need some help. For the house i want to use a tilable texture. One for the roof and an other one for the wall. i also want to make an extra UV for the windows. My idea would to start wiht a highpoly in ZBrush and use the normal map as a submission. But i have no experience with tileable Textures. Did anyone have some tricks for me or should i put the roof and the wall in one tileable texture ? So i hope you can help me greets Last edited by Greenmutze; 29-11-2011 at 07:44 PM. |

Hey Greenmutze
It Depends on what you are trying to do, for example if you are just making the scene to render then you could just use witch ever method you prefer, but if you are trying to practice a more game friendly way then you best bet is to create some re-usable texture sheets where you can overlay your UV’s on top of each other to keep using the same pixel space, to have an idea of what i mean go here and look how the texture is reused on the model Texture work troubles. - Polycount Forum Hope this helps |

Yeah that image looks similar to what I was trying to explain, if you have a mesh that is tillable or a mesh that is going to be used a lot you would use the same texture in the same UV space to place the texture in, if you look at my image I have added, you can see that in my image there is a building and they all have the same UV space but I can chose witch window texture I want to use because I have the same UV layout. For each window meaning that I just need to add the UV to the right texture, in my case I have four windows to chose from and I make sure that that texture on the window is tileable as well so if I chose two of the same at the side of each other it will tile. So when i have two of the same windows all I have done is make the two identical UV layouts overlay on top of each other.
