BirdBoy

Bird Boy.
Hi, a work in progress. The character is an alien hunter boy with his predator, partner. The setting is arid plain, tribal tech.

I wanted to make an adventurous figure and I wanted to create tension between a beautiful boy's face and (what we would find) the ugliness of his mandebils.

Also I want to play with the relationship between the two figures. I am not sure if the bird will have membranes or feathers yet.

Cheers

Looks very interesting visually, I find the way the ribs seem to change on the side of his body looks distracting, kind of weird really. Ankles might be a little thin but I guess his frame is meant to be quite thin. I'd like to see some close ups of the hands, they looks pretty damn good from that picture.

Bek, thanks.

Had a look to see how the figure would be without the tusks. Put some muscles in the legs and changed the obliques. If they still look strange I will slope them even more, I think that is what looked strange.

Cheers

Seeing those cheek bones helps reveal the boy aspect a little better. The tusks could be some type of battle head gear. I dig the elongated torso it reflects your individual style which you can see in other models of yours.

The only thing that stands out to me as off is the shoes to me when I hear tribal I think sandals or open toes, straps with sharp teeth in them I guess what I am saying is I see the tech more than the tribal at the moment. Keep at it and cant wait to see more.

A quick overlay with an image made in MakeHuman of a boy about the right age,and mounted on zbrush’s image plane showed that the ribcage was too narrow, and the hips were too low, also there was a bow in the forearms that was too exaggerated. The arms were slightly too short. Using transpose master I pulled the mesh and all it’s associated subtools around a bit.

Roughed in the wings. I like the size of the bird so far.

Face is fuller. The torso has been refined and become broader. The chest has been softened to raise the impression of adolescence. Hard modeling on the shoes, gun and trousers. Clothing refinements done in 3dsmax and the gun in zbrush with clipping brushes and shadowbox.

Cheers

Love the progress, Kanga! The adjustments to the chest really made a difference and took quite a few years off. LOVE the gun, and it's impressive you did that all in Zbrush! I need to give the clip tools more play. Keep rocking, mate
