My first year of Concept art.

Hi you guys I just registered here and I would like to show my art here and like to know what you guys think of my style and have any critic to improve myself? I just started to draw digitally in november 2010 and this is as far as I am.. I am really struggling with environments I would love to learn that but well I need to practice more! C&C are more than welcome!

I like your designs, especially the fire mage concept I get a tribal / LOTR feel when i look at these which i love. One thing i'd like to point out on the first image is the weapon. The design is simple, but I'm not sure the way he is holding it is correct.. it seems to 'flat', rather, I feel it should be rotated slightly to reflect the angle the character is standing at if you understand what i'm trying to say.

In regards to environments, don't sweat. I'm no high quality concept artist, but I can draw and my advice to you would be to just sit down and start drawing whats around you.. even if it's your bedroom, living room, a section of street from outside, just practicing basic scenes will start you off attaemtping to create envionmental art. It's important to get the prespective right so you can give a scene 'depth', for example, this artwork below which i believe is a scene from the Narnia movies, gives the impression of a 3D environment.



You attemtped to show this in the third image in the form of moutains but now I look at the style of your drawings, they do seem abit 2D which i guess is fine for character artwork. Just trying to give some constructive feedback and of course not slate your work because I really like it hopefully a regular concept artist will post back with some interesting points which i'm sure will be of more use to you.

Hi! thank you very much for the reply and yeah your right about the wapon But I am going to take your advise to my next painting and I will draw more because now I have my summer vacation so Lots of drawings!:P
