Rural House Environment [WIP Concepts]

Hi, I started my new environment project for a 3rd Person Psychological Horror game

I already finished the storyline, storyboard and script of the game. I'm in the pre-production phase creating the visual elements and design of the house.

Here is the floorplan of the house I whipped up.

Here is a concept of the front door.

Other misc. concepts.

The concept was based in real haunted houses in the Philippines.

The Red House

The Laperal White House

Comments and Crits are welcome .

Looks interesting. Have you done many projects on this scale before? If not then I would recommend scaling down your idea to start with and focus on a smaller section. That way you're less likely to run out of steam, and you should be able to reuse a lot of the assets you created in expanding and creating the rest of the scene.

I can't wait to see how this turns out. Why would they have a hallway from the kitchen to the yard? Maybe you could turn it into a covered porch. No matter I guess.

@rustim

yeah I've done couple of full house environments but the difference is, this project is now realtime not pre-rendered.

here's an example of my past project (rendered for a "FAILED" point and click flash game)

*Credits for Zdzislaw Beksinski for the paintings
______

The design and elements will be similar but I am planning to add delicate wood carvings as a key design of the environment.

here is a sample design that my team member created

The main problem of this example is the complex silhouette of the design and I am thinking of simplifying it.
_____

@Viking

"porch" this word is what I'm looking for to describe the kitchen hallway. Thanks to you I finally have dozens of new reference in that part of the house.

hey buddy
i think you're doing very well
but i have some notes
firist there's some gloss on the roof ,it's not physical
second you gotta use normal maps or bumb map for wood and the other textures
and lighting needs some optimization
i'll tell you about it later
good luck

You could use that drawing and turn it into a displacement map to use in ZBrush, and take the shape out and back into maya if you're worried about how complex the shape is.

Either way like where this is going.
