Cartoonized WW1 soldier

This is a cartoonized world war one german soldier I started about a week ago. It's made with metal shading (normalmap, specularmap, diffusemap) and I used 3ds max, Zbrush and Photoshop.
Current stats:
Body: 3704 tris (+ tattoo 4 tris)
- eyes texture: 512*512
- half-naked upper body with head texture: 2048*2048
- pants with boots texture: 1024*1024
Helmet: 706 tris, texture: 1024*1024
Bolt-action rifle: 3812 tris, texture: 2048*2048



I know he's missing his eyebrows, I'm gonna fix that. Any critisism apprechiated

i think if he's cartoony he should have bigger hand and feet but that's just my opinion.. you've gotten fairly far with the character so it's probably not worth the hassle for you.

other that that he looks great, really nice little character.. maybe just dirty up the textures a bit.

He resembles that other cartoon Kraut model posted somewhere lol except without a shirt. Looking good btw except the helmet could use an insiginia possibly.

t_hawkins: I agree, it needs to be a little more dirtier, but I'm still experimenting with UDK (cause that's where it's going to) and gonna check if there will be a way to make real-time alpha dirt which will put dirt on the model, where it really gets dirty. Also, not all cartoons need to have huge limbs, in my opinion I got the weight of the model pretty good this time, cuz my previous attempts didnt turn out too well.

tesher07: at the moment I'm sculpting his clothes, so being half-naked will just be an option. What insignia were you thinking btw? I made a camouflaged skin for the helmet, but I don't think they used any insignia - remember, this is WW1, so no swastikas or such. But if you were thinking of something that they really used that time, please let me know.

shadowofamn: hehe, I hope this "lol" and "haha" is real in a positive way. Cuz that's what this design is actually trying to achieve: making people to have a smile

This is a nice little model The mouth how ever seems a litle sharp, as well as some other features you see on the face. The chin is also really sharp. Maybe make is more rounder ? Smoother.

Thanks ZenMan, I still need to model the mouth a bit (not re-modeling it) and I try to make the inside of his mouth, so that he'll be able to actually talk or have facial expressions

Anyways, I sorta finished his coat, it still needs some larger stains like mud, blood, and other nasty stuff.

Looks great man, great textures. Only thing that bothers me is his eyes. They don't look like he just has big eyes, but they look like they are bulging out, and i don't think thats what you were going for in the screenshot.

I always keep my comment positive, its nice for you to stick with your concept. But the topless pic made me laugh haha. He looks like his eye is a little dry because he open it too wide for too long.
