Looks good so far. Overall, the muscles seem a bit "fluffy" by them being so round and smooth. Define the individual muscles (and muscle connections) a bit finer, and it should fix it.
I recently learned that using the clay and rake tools together in ZBrush allows you to easily re-direct the muscle flow. Build the volume first with the clay tool, then shape it with the rake tool, and finally smooth to your liking. It leaves you with a nice random-looking form that works well for muscles and anatomy overall. YouTube - ZBrush 3 - Sculpting with rakes Here, Pixelogic's Ryan Kingslien shows you basically what I mean.

...forgot to mention that the forearms look a bit short. Might want to check your measurements.

Polygoblin - Thanks for the forearms they were definitely too short. I havent really started going into that fine detail on the muscles yet only really a little bit on the face not sure I like the effect the rake gives much prefer clay tubs and smooth at the moment probably went a little overboard with the smooth :P thanks for the link too!
Cryrid - Thanks I made the back muscles a bit bigger, definitely helps the hulky super villain theme! Will post new pics soon! *edit* updated current images. Last edited by Benjyshwa; 19-02-2010 at 04:08 PM. |

Venom is the best. Carnage is a close second.
I would look into going over your sculpt with a "veiny" / detail pass. kind of like this http://www.animation.art.br/3dart/venom/venom22.jpg |

Nice start Benjyshwa. I'm far from a expert on anatomy, so take this with a grain of salt, but the musculature of his back is striking me as unbelievable, especially when compared against his upper torso.
I think in general you need to observe where the muscles of the back attach. Excuse the crappyness of my paintover, I tried to keep the figures general proportions. I hope it'll help some. |

I'm a little more familiar with anatomy... and the back does strike me as odd as well. Definitely could use more attention, with good reference in that area.
Otherwise... this is coming along nicely...Venom has always been one of my favorite villians in the Marvel Universe ![]() |
