Hi,

Those of you from CGTalk might recognise this. This is a game level in the Source engine, or will be, at the moment it's only two rooms. I'm doing this as a portfolio piece as I needed some in game stuff. It originally started as a prison level almost two years ago. I was having lots of problems with it. I was never happy with the layout and I kept redesigning it like crazy. It got abandoned, and I decided to pick it up again last November. I decided to keep the scope small to start with, and then expand incrementally. I ended up using only a few props from the prison map.

I've almost got these two rooms finished, and that's how it will go on my reel for now. I definitely want to keep going with it though, and make a playable map for HL2. Any critique at all will be greatly appreciated.

Yes idd, have seen those @ cgtalk. They are quite amazing.

The thing is, they don't look like they were made with the source engine, which is absolutely great. There's nothing much to say, other than the rooms look very credible, so that's a job wel done!

There is only one thing I noticed. On the second screen, all the horizontal supporting beams have the exact same texture, which looks repeating. If they are BSP then i'm sure that'll be easy to fix.

Thanks doylle. Good eye on those beams, I completely forgot to move the textures around after copying the beams, thanks for pointing that out.

looking great, very nice job. can't really spot anything that bothers me, which doesn't happen too often.

Wow, this has come along quite a bit since I last saw it on CGTalk (not been on there in ages :x).

It's maybe a little noisy, but it does make it look like it's not obviously a Source game which is pretty cool.

Awesome work and lighting
