Awesome, thanks abandonstage!
@Joe Lemonade: i've thought about the 90º rotation, it would add more depth and a bigger game world, but technically it is a challenge, and i dunno if it really contributes that much to the game design.

Just discovered this topic, I first thought you was remaking all this great game...Anyway it's also a good idea to remake a level for your portfolio. I just don't understand why you didn't choose the jungle level which is for me the best representation of this game, and is more original than futur earth imo.

Well, this has a little story behind it - i'm starting my own indie company, and the first thing i did was inquire about purchasing the Flashback game rights to do a remake. But without having access to people with used to deal with IP rights all day in the industry, everyone i talked to (old Delphine employees, legal counsel, and others in the industry) didn't how who has them. All i know is that when Delphine closed, apparently nobody picked up the rights, but that doesn't mean they are abandonware, which leaves them in a sort of limbo.
So i'm pursuing my own project. Put i still wanted to do something with it, so here it is. Regarding the jungle level, i thought about it, it's certainly the most iconic, but i didn't want to do organics, i wanted to do hard surface and a city environment.

I think to extract sprite files people usually either go into a hex editor and find the stuff corresponding to images, or reverse engineer the file, but that's for programmers. There's always the option, of course, of screenshoting everything in an emulator.
I found all Flashback maps by googling it, don't remember the site though. There are tons of sprite websites out there, for pretty much all games, from atari to psx. EDIT: found it: linky
