Abandoned Environment

Hi guys. I have been modeling this environment for past few days and willing to finish it lit and textured. Well the inspiration came from ref images from Urban Exploration / Exploration Urbaine - Online since 1998!. This is a very good website for Environment artists. Lot of good ref. images.
Below are my work in progress mesh screen shots and some basic lighting done using V-ray.
But I'm planning to take it to Unreal for lighting.

Very impressive start, if I was going to crit it would be that currently your lighting is very single coloured. Change your shadow colour to have a hint of blue or purple, helping ground then scene more in terms of composition. I think its important to add it into the lighting as it will effect the whole scene.

There are 2 small things that you could change if you want. The piece looks very good as it is and will be fantastic when you get some textures going.

The railway has 2 issues. I think the bend in them is just a bit sharp. The carts on the right would have a hard time following them i think. In your reference the turn has a radius that look almost twice as big. The railing also has a few more "rails" in it. One small one in the center and some boards or something on either side of the center. Adding them could make it more interesting, but are not necessary.

I suppose the lighting is a bit single colored at the moment but for just a start it is pretty good.

Thanks for the link. It was very useful.

Texturing Update

Hi guys Here a small update on texturing.

Flava-Fly : Thanx dude

JMChristopher & IchII3D : Lighting is very rough. Was just trying to play around with lights in 3ds Max. Planning to do everything in UNREAL. This will be my first time working on Unreal editor. And regarding rails I'll definitely add more of them as suggested by Christopher.

lookin good so far, is that just the diffuse or is the normal included in those renders of the textures?

I can't wait to see this in unreal.

JMChristopher : The first one is with normal map and specular. And the wall texture is without normal map. Not sure whether I'm suppose to put normal map for wall texture.
I too can't wait to start with unreal

Well some screen shots from 3dsMax 2010 demo. It has everything, real time shadows, Ao and hardware shading.
Also can anyone give me a link to unreal editor tutorials especially Lighting and post processing. I never used this editor before.

Have a look at the unreal section here, i'm sure there's a good tutorial inthere somewhere

http://www.game-artist.net/forums/su...al-thread.html

As for the new update, the lighting looks a bit off imo, not sure what your setup looks like, but it feels as if there are just a few pointlights in the center of the hall, rather than light being casted by the windows. (there's allot of light on the left wall that you didn't have in your lighting mood preview). But either way, you can't go wrong with porting this to a proper game engine for rendering.
