Tutorial: Easy Peasy Roll of Razor Wire
Tutorial: Creating a roll of Barbed Wire :: jeremylindstrom.com
It's a low poly tutorial. I might go back and fix some things, I was looking for one and instead just documented my process while I was going. If anyone has any suggestions for clarification or if it helps anyone let me know. It's pretty simple to follow, there's some things I could of gone in further like uvlayout and alpha channel stuff, but the main part was just getting the shape, I guess. Let me know if it helps anyone out. Would love to have helped at least one person. ![]() Last edited by Dekard; 09-10-2008 at 01:56 PM. Reason: updated the page with some corrections |

You'd be best making the spiral if you use the helix spline, 4 sides, rotated 45 degrees. Then delete the inner faces using the circular selection tool and clone+flip normals if your game doesn't support double-sided geometry. I think it would be a lot quicker to make, and also faster to tweak?

thanks, I'm still a bit new to max just figured I'd throw it out there because I hadn't seen any tutorials out there yet. There's not a tool in Maya like that afaik. Yours came out much better. I'll check it out and update my tutorial thanks!
