Maya 8 Hair Tutorial help

im having problems finding a good maya 8 hair tutorial, i am trying to make a model of the character Nova from Starcraft Ghost that never came out in doing so learning maya. i have the basic body down and im trying to do hair now if anyone can help me plz. heres a picture of her and her hair.
