Normal Mapping w/ 3ds Max, Photoshop and Crazybump (Videos)

Hey Guys,

I've just finished the 2nd part of my normal mapping videos. They cover normal mapping
from creating a base map in 3ds Max, to using the Nvidia filter plugin, and finally CrazyBump
to create a complete map that is ready for games and other media.

Part 1 and 2 are available for download on my site under the tutorials section:

Great stuff. Part two is as interesting as part one, which i've already watched a couple of times . To bad you didn't show the lowpoly with normal map in 3dsmax this time though.

Thanks for sharing.

Good stuff, watched part 1 a while back, part 2 is great also. Maybe ambient occlusion in 3ds Max for a future topic?

WOW this was excellent! thank you very much for this!
I agree with the others, I wish you showed the finalized normal map on the model in 3dsmax, but its not a huge deal. I look forward to trying these techniques out in the next couple of days

just thought I would say that you need to come up with a better nick than 'gamedev', that sounds a little uncreative :P

EDIT!

a great success!

I would like to know how a specular map is made :>

Well I'm really glad you guys liked, it was easy to follow, etc. I decided to make some vids on how I work cause I always wanted something like this when I was learning the basics. Like I said I've got a few more coming. I'm also working on some ebook stuff related to the new Unreal 3 engine which might spawn some videos as well.

Thanks for the great feedback guys!

And yea, I realize the nick kinda sucks, but it's something I've had for so long
