Put back extracted and edited meshes on the game

Hi there, i´m a begginer on the video game stuff, i really are a 3d artist, so sure i can find some help here.

The question is simple, i hope the answers too. If i extract the meshes of the game whit the 3D Ripper DX or other similar program, how i can put the edited model back on the game? There´s any software to "recompile" the file?

Finally, sorry for the possible grammar errors, the english is not my native lenguage.

Quite a lot of games allow you to decompile assets, and recompile them. When it comes to how you do it though, it will depend on the game/engine and the programs used. So more information would be useful.

Thanks!!! well... i really don´t worry about the game, i just start so anyone will be of my interest, if you can tell which engine software works on some especific game will be great, i try to get almost one or two of these engines and start to experiment at my own.

The Source engine, HL2/Counter Strike Source. There is a vast amount of resources out there, just need to search.

DICE's Refractor 2 engine for Battlefield 2 has been a good engine to mod but has a semi-steep learning curve. This link is the place to go for just about everything you need to know about modding BF2.
