It isnt working.

I use Max 9 on Win Vista. Followed the stepts but nothing change only a gray box without an texture. It works in the render but not with all shader effects just a flat texture without bumps and spec maps.

I use 8bit TGA's from 256x256 to 1024x1024. depents on the model.

Any clue?

works for me with vista and max9.

only the backface from alphamaps is culled. so twosided materials dont work. its a little bit bad for my vegetation objects.

Nooby question...

What directory do I place this shader in? I've honestly never installed one before.

Note: I'm using Max 2008.

Thanks. ^^

it doesnt matter where you place it. you have to manually load it. The default directory is 3dsmax/maps/fx though.

Hi there, as you may see I'm kind of new to the forum. And a bit to game modelling.

I have a question about the shader. Does it work with Max 7? Only asking that because that's the only max that I own, and the textures doesn't seem to show when I load them. The objects stay the colour of that of the diffuse colour box. And I see people are talking about checkboxes. There aren't any checkboxes in the rollout that I'm looking at.

I'm adding a screen grab of what I'm looking at. The white object has your shader on, the rest is using one of Ben Clowards shaders.

Hmm, it looks like you don't have those checkboxes that you need to activate the maps. (ben cloward doesn't use those in his shaders, so that explains why his shaders are working). There's not much to do about it i'm afraid. I could remove them, but then you'd always have to use all the maps...

I just find it incredibly weird that the checkboxes don't show.

Oh bother.

And here I was looking forward to making diffuse, specular, normal, alpha, shadow and light maps all in one. Now I have to make do with just diffuse, alpha , specular and normal maps. No shiny and fancy shadow work. Sigh. If you haven't guessed this is for that Cornered Game Art Challenge. No frikken way I can beat that Ozgur guy on cgsociety now.
