hmm... if not that, have a look at the checkboxes for each texture. If you check some of them without applying a propper texture they will make your mesh go black too...

Hmm, I laos noticed that ticking the "normals map" box while not having one will also make the model turn black
![]() Anyway, as I said before, really a great shader mate. And forget about that wierd I posted in the beginning in this forum, I thought one couldn't get it to render realtime, but turns out I must've messed up or my old comp didn't support it ![]() Cheers!

I've been messing with a few max shaders lately ( mostly dx9 based ) and have noticed on a few that you have to add blank maps ( spec/ normal ) to get the shader to work correctly, otherwise the model goes black/ invisible.
Maybe this isn't anythning to do with doylle's shader, maybe its a dx flaw? I'll let those more informed than myself ponder on that.

Alright, big update. Added a bunch of new features, such as a si map multiplier which makes the glow look more convincing (It's still not actuall glow, but it's the next best thing I think) , sharpen pass for the diffuse map, and a detail normal map.
feedback welcome @UnsteadyTeddy: yea, i've noticed that too. However, there are checkboxes for each input, so if you don't use it the shader uses a neutral value instead... Maps that are not being used should not cause any problem, normally.

Well, the "Asus GeForce 8600GT - 512 Mb" I got works pretty well.. not really something that "roxxors ur boxor".. but it should do.. and only goes for about 70 GBP while converting the swedish price "850 SEK" that is.

The main reason for the invalid technique error is as far as I know your graph card that doesn't support pixelshader 3.0 and vertexshader 3.0. The reason i have to use these is because otherwhise i don't have enough instructions to fit everything in 1 massive shader. So if you buy a new grapch card, make sure it supports those two. (all new graph cards do, but check it anyway, you never know
)I suppose i could make a light version, with only the basic maps, but then you might as well grab one from ben clowards site and use one of those. They are very solid to, and working with PS 1.1. That will get you going for now J
